How do we make our gluten free products taste so good?
The organic soybeans in our soy sauce are naturally fermented for over six months in the traditional Chinese way. This wheat-free process results in a superior tasting complex flavored gluten free soy sauce.
Some lower quality, saltier products use chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, to quickly manufacture cheaper soy sauce. Joyce Chen Soy Sauce does not contain chemicals, artificial colors, preservatives, or added MSG. Our high quality, aged Chinese-style soy sauce is lower in sodium than other brands, and is certified as Kosher. We carry the delicious flavor to our gluten free hoisin, which is made with our gluten free soy sauce.

Prior to every Joyce Chen Foods production run for our Kosher products, a rabbi trained in food production inspects our ingredients to confirm that they meet Kosher standards of wholesomeness and purity. This rabbi also witnesses the boiling of the kettles and cleaning of equipment in preparation for the run. During manufacturing, this rabbi observes the mixing and bottling of the products.
Our gluten free soy sauce is manufactured at a facility where we can be certified by Circle K Pareve
, which is controlled by the Organized Kashruth Laboratories
. The rest of our Kosher products are manufactured at a location where inspections are available from STAR-K

Joyce Chen 05:00 Minute Potstickers Belong in Everyone’s Kitchen
Based on original recipes by Joyce Chen, our three varieties of microwaveable potstickers are lower in sodium, fat and cholesterol than other brands. We recommend that you enjoy them as a delicious appetizer or meal. Joyce Chen 05:00 Minute Potstickers® are designed to be microwaved, unlike other brands that display microwaving cooking instructions on their packaging, in spite of not recommending this type of cooking.
Our potstickers are premium quality, and contain no preservatives, MSG, or texture soy fillers. As a part of our commitment to minimal processing, we use unbleached, unenriched wheat flour to make our potsticker skins. Please note that our potstickers at not gluten free. In her restaurants, Joyce Chen coined the term Peking Ravioli for potstickers.

Did you Know?
In China, potstickers were prepared before the New Year celebration. Before the advent of refrigeration, these potstickers were stored in earthen jars, and kept outside. These jars are frozen during the winter. After New Year’s, the potstickers would be cooked in boiling water, without being thawed.
On the New Year’s day, it was considered bad luck to cut or chop, because that would represent cutting your up coming good luck. That is why the potstickers would be prepared beforehand. Having a hair cut on New Year’s Day was also considered to be bad luck.

Home-Style Potstickers – Delicious, Low in Sodium and Fat
Joyce Chen Foods offers home-style potstickers that are based on Joyce Chen’s original recipes. Following Joyce Chen’s philosophy, our potstickers are lower in sodium and fat compared to other brands. They have no textured soybean fillers, added MSG, or preservatives. Since these potstickers are made with unbleached flour.
Our home-style potstickers have hand-rolled style skins that have more texture and thickness than the skins of our 05:00 Potstickers.
Joyce Chen’s home-style potstickers may be boiled, and served as jiao zi* (boiled or steamed), or pan-fried and served guo tie*. These potstickers must be fully cooked since they are frozen raw. They are not microwaveable.

Pan-fried potstickers are called guo tie, (stick to the pot) while boiled and steamed potstickers are called jiao zi.

Joyce Chen Double Black Soy Sauce is now available online through Famous Foods (see link below), and in select stores. It is certified Kosher by Circle K.
Compared to regular soy sauce, which is light in color and saltier tasting, this darker soy sauce gives dishes a bright dark brown color, and adds a fuller flavor to dishes. Following the strict requirements of Joyce Chen, we've created our Double Black Soy Sauce with no caramel coloring, no preservatives, no added MSG, and no high fructose corn syrup. Just like out gluten free soy sauce, Joyce Chen Double Black is naturally brewed over 6 months the traditional Asian way.
Now home cooks stock both light and dark soy sauce in their pantries. We recommend Joyce Chen Double Black Soy Sauce for stir fry dishes, and Shanghai slow cooked dishes. Joyce Chen's recipe for beef and broccoli is delicous when make with our dark soy sauce.
